Abruzzo Olive Oil
An ancient history, witnessed by the recent recovery of a large olive tree, which research institutes have dated to over 1700 years, located in the garden of the Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere in Fossacesia, in the province of Chieti.
Abruzzo currently has over 9 million plants with more than forty cultivated varieties, some of which represent, in terms of quality and quantity, the basis of the 200 quintals of oil produced each year, 90% extra virgin olive oil and mostly cultivated with organic methods, with three oils that have obtained the European DOP recognition and that enhance the cultivar-territory binomial, identifying the different production areas within the region.
